A contract is made, and she is given a task: create life in the underworld in six months time, or forever be bound to the underworld. They make the crown without consulting Hades, in adoration of her kindness and attention. The souls grow to respect her as they would a queen, even outside her relationship with Hades. The crown is representative of Persephone’s status in the Underworld. The author really did a good job of giving their relationship a slow burn that made the moments whenever they gave into their lust and passion all the more. The narcissus flower is the flower of Hades’s domain, tying the crown to the Underworld. A game of poker with a handsome man turns dangerous, when she finds out that the man she lost to is the God of the Underworld himself. Clair, A Touch of Darkness What I Liked: The Slow-Building Sexual Tension The sparks between Hades and Persephone were (of course) a major highlight of the book. When Persephone has a chance to rebel against her mother's many rules, she takes it, and goes to Nevernight, the ultra-exclusive nightclub owned by Hades - and where mortals go to for the chance to make a deal with him. Persephone, the unknown Goddess of Spring, is living amongst mortals, and is enrolled in university, with the goal to become a journalist, despite her mother Demeter's objections. After the Great War, after the Gods came down to Earth, they brought all continents together and created New Greece, and ruled once again.
